- The purpose of this policy is to establish a harassment-free environment for all volunteers, visitors, staff members, and guests at the Cyber Range facilities. This policy applies to any interactions during Cyber Range events or activities in person and online.
- All participants are expected to abide by this policy, as well as the decisions of the Cyber Range leadership regarding harassment matters. Volunteers and visitors who do not adhere to this policy may be subject to corrective actions up to and including removal from the premises or permanent banning from future events
For the purposes of this policy, harassment is defined as any unwelcome conduct that creates a hostile environment or interferes with an individual's ability to participate in Cyber Range activities. This includes but is not limited to: i. Verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age. ii. Sexual images in public spaces, unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature. iii. Deliberate misgendering or use of wrong names and pronouns. iv. Threats of violence or threats that reasonably cause alarm to others. v. Bullying, including cyberbullying through electronic communication channels. Harassment can occur in various forms, such as verbal comments, physical contact, online communications, or the display of offensive materials. Participants are encouraged to report any form of harassment they experience or witness.
Reporting Incidents of Harassment
If a volunteer or visitor experiences or witnesses an incident of harassment, they should report it to the Cyber Range leadership immediately. This can be done through email, feedback forms, or in-person conversations with relevant staff members. The Cyber Range will investigate all reported incidents promptly and impartially, taking appropriate corrective actions as necessary. Confidentiality will be maintained throughout the process unless disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect the interests of our organization.
Consequences for Harassment
Volunteers and visitors who engage in harassing behavior may face a range of consequences, depending on the severity and frequency of their actions. These consequences can include: i. Verbal or written warnings from Cyber Range leadership. ii. Temporary or permanent removal from the event or activity where the harassment occurred. iii. Permanent banning from future events or activities at the discretion of the Cyber Range leadership. Volunteers and visitors unhappy with the decisions of the Cyber Range leadership have the sole remedy of no longer visiting the Cyber Ranges. This policy is not intended to limit free speech or scientific inquiry, but rather to ensure that all participants can engage in such activities without fear of harassment or host.
